The register
What a nominating body is
The organisation that put a celebrant on the State register. You do not have to join it. Here is why the filter exists.
In Ireland, the person who marries you must be on the Register of Solemnisers. That public file is published on gov.ie. Each person on it was put there by a nominating body.
A nominating body is the organisation that asked the State to list this person. That is how they became legally allowed to marry couples in Ireland.
You do not have to join that organisation. If you choose a celebrant, you contact them yourself.
Some nominating bodies are for celebrants you can choose, such as Entheos or humanist groups. Others are organised religions. A church assigns someone. That is a different path.
The filter on this site lets you see only people nominated by one body. Use it if you already know the organisation, or if you want to compare people from the same one.
We list bodies because the register lists them. We do not recommend one over another. Check the current file on gov.ie before you pay a deposit.
